Attention! Dust generated during the normal operation of the brake system is harmful to health. Never blow it out with compressed air or inhale it. Always use a certified filter mask when working on brakes. Under no circumstances should you use petroleum-based solvents to clean the brake system. Use only brake cleaner!
Attention! If the vehicle is equipped with electronically controlled air suspension, turn off the suspension height control switch before raising the vehicle.
Removing
1. Loosen the axle shaft/hub nut (see chapter 8). Loosen the wheel nuts. Raise the vehicle and place secure supports under it. Remove the wheel.
2. Remove the wheel speed sensor from the steering knuckle and remove the brake disc from the hub (see chapter 9).
3. Loosen, but do not completely unscrew the bolts securing the suspension strut to the steering knuckle (pic. 3.3).
4. Separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle arm (see paragraph 18).
5. Turn out a bolt and turn away nuts of fastening of the spherical hinge to the bottom lever (pic. 5.3, a, b). Now you can unscrew the bolts securing the strut to the steering knuckle.
6. Push the axle shaft out of the hub as described in chapter 8. Support the end of the axle shaft with a piece of wire.
7. Separate a rotary fist from a rack. If necessary, disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle.
Installation
8. Direct the steering knuckle assembly with the hub to the regular place, while inserting the axle shaft into the hub.
9. Insert a rotary fist into a rack flange, screw in bolts and screw nuts, but do not tighten them yet.
10. Connect the ball joint to the transverse arm, screw in the bolt and screw on the nuts, but do not tighten them yet.
11. Connect the tie rod to the steering knuckle arm (see paragraph 18). Tighten the strut bolt nuts, the ball joint-to-wishbone bolt and nuts, and the tie rod nut to the specified torque listed in the Specifications at the beginning of this chapter. Replace all pins with new ones.
12. Install the brake disc on the hub and install the caliper and wheel speed sensor as described in chapter 9.
13. Screw on the axle shaft / hub nut and tighten it securely (final tightening is done after lowering the vehicle).
14. Install the wheel and wheel nuts, lower the vehicle and tighten the wheel nuts to the prescribed torque specified in Specifications at the beginning of this chapter.
15. Tighten the axle shaft/hub nut to the specified torque as specified in Specifications at the beginning of this chapter, and then stop it with a punch (see chapter 8).
