2. Unscrew the radiator filler cap and the expansion tank plug.
Caution: To avoid burns, do not remove the cover while the engine is hot.
3. Open the drain cocks on the radiator and engine, drain the coolant into a suitable container.
Note: in some 2L-TE modifications, the drain cock is located on the cylinder block behind the starter, and can only be seen from below and unscrewed from above.

4. Close the drain valves.
Tightening torques:
- 2L, 3L, 2L-T. — 29 Nm
- 1KZ-T — 8 Nm
5. Fill the system with coolant.
Note:
- Do not use alcohol-based antifreeze. Use only ethylene glycol antifreeze.
- Coolant should only be mixed with distilled water according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Filling capacities:
Engines 2L, 3L, 2L-T:
- with one heater - 10.9 l
- with two heaters - 11.5 l
Engine 1KZ-T:
- with one heater - 10.1 l
- with two heaters - 11.0 l
6. Replace the radiator filler cap and expansion tank cap.
7. Warm up the engine and check for leaks.
8. Check the coolant level again and add coolant if necessary.
