Assembly of the idler gear (engine 1KZ-T) [Toyota Land Cruiser J70]

1. Clamp the idler gear in a vice with the cut mark facing down.

2. Install: (1) Compensation spring; (2) compensation gear; (3) spring washer.

Caution: The cut in the spring (1) must cover the pin in the idler gear.

3. Install the retaining ring.

4. Align the holes in the idler and compensation gears (turn the compensation gear clockwise) and tighten the tightening bolt.

5. Turn the idler gear over, re-tighten both gears and remove the tightening bolt.

6. Install the compensation gear and spring washer on the other side.

7. Install the retaining ring.

8. Turn the compensation gear clockwise to align the holes in all gears and install the tightening bolt.
