Regularly clean the distributor cap inside and out to remove traces of carbon deposits, dust and moisture. For cleaning, use a cloth soaked in gasoline. When cleaning, simultaneously check for cracks in the lid. If there is significant wear on the contacts of the slider, replace the slider. Brass contacts must not be filed or ground. To lubricate the distributor bearing, with the cover removed, drop two or three drops of oil from the inside of the distributor axis. Keep the external surfaces of high voltage wires clean and dry to ensure perfect electrical connections in the ignition system. From time to time, remove all wires from the ignition distributor, clean and check the contacts. To strip the connection ends, the wires must not be shortened. In these cases, be sure to replace the wires.
