Ignition distributor 1980-87.

1. Housing and spiral gear; 2. Sensor rotor; 3. Centrifugal governor counterweights; 4. Breaker plate; 5. Vacuum regulator; 6. Inductive sensor; 7. Sensor cover; 8. Ring; 9. Runner; 10. Distributor cap

Removal

1. Disconnect the battery from ground.

2. Disconnect the connectors from the distributor.

3. Find the mark on the distributor cap for the high-voltage terminal of cylinder 1. If there is no mark on the cap, find the corresponding terminal along the wire from cylinder 1.

4. Remove the distributor cap and, after turning the crankshaft, install the runner opposite the high-voltage terminal of the 1st cylinder.

5. Place a mark on the lower edge of the distributor housing, just below the rotor pointer. Also place marks on the distributor housing and on the cylinder head to ensure proper installation of the distributor during assembly.

6. If the design provides for fastening the distributor with two shoulder bolts, then loosen these bolts, but do not unscrew them completely.

7. Loosen the distributor mounting bolt (shown by arrow), then move the distributor horizontally and remove it. Turning the crankshaft after removing the distributor from the engine is not allowed.

Installation

Attention! If the crankshaft still turned after removing the distributor, then set the piston of the 1st cylinder to TDC of the compression stroke and orient the runner and the distributor housing.

1. Replace the sealing ring on the distributor shaft.

2. When installing the distributor, the recess (1) must face upwards.

Attention! On cars from 1993, when installing, the groove in the distributor housing and the protrusion on the drive gear are aligned.

3. Insert the distributor into the engine, precisely orienting the housing according to the marks applied.

4. If the distributor does not fit in place, recheck the marks on the distributor housing base and on the engine before disassembly. Install the distributor exactly according to these marks. Also check the orientation of the runner, the mark on the runner should match the mark on the housing base made before disassembly.

5. Tighten the distributor mounting bolt.

6. Then the installation is carried out in reverse order.

7. Check the ignition timing, tighten the distributor mounting bolt.
