Ignition distributor [Toyota Carina T170]

The ignition distributors on both engines are driven by the camshaft. The camshaft has a drive spline, and the ignition distributor has a driver that engages with the spline. On the 1.6L engine, the ignition distributor is driven by the exhaust camshaft, and on the 2.0L engine, the ignition distributor is driven by the intake camshaft. The ignition distributor is located at the rear of the cylinder head. The ignition system itself on both engines also has a different operating principle. It can work either with an electronic control unit, or a conventional system, installed on previous TOYOTA models, can be installed. Figures 146 and 147 show the electrical diagrams of both systems.
