Check the oil level after parking the car on a level surface. If the engine was running before, stop it to let the oil drain into the oil pan. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it with a rag. Insert the dipstick again, pull it out and determine the oil level using the dipstick. If necessary, add oil to the mark on the dipstick. Be sure to wash down the prescribed grade of oil, also taking into account the season.
