The engine has a circulating lubrication system. The oil pump is mounted on the crankshaft, behind the crankshaft pulley. The oil pump housing is also the front oil seal housing. Pumps on different engines have different designs. On a 1.6L engine, the oil pump consists of two rotors, an inner rotor with several outer blades rotates inside an outer rotor with outer blades. The inner rotor is mounted on the crankshaft and is driven by the shaft. The 2.0 liter engine has a conventional centrifugal pump. The inner rotor has a pump drive shaft, which is driven by a timing belt gear. When the inner rotor engages with the cutouts of the outer rotor, the oil flow changes and an increase in pressure is created. A closing plate attached to the pump housing turns the oil pump into a closed unit.
