- Before assembly, check that all parts are clean and free of foreign objects.
- Apply lubricant to all moving parts. This should be done before assembly, and not after the parts are already assembled, since in this case the lubricant will not be able to get to the necessary contact points. It is especially important that the pistons, piston rings and cylinder walls are well lubricated with engine oil.
- Thoroughly clean all parts of the cylinder block if the engine is completely disassembled. During partial disassembly, make sure that no foreign objects get into the disassembled engine parts or holes. To avoid this, seal or cover all holes with rags.
- It is best to blow out the channels and holes with compressed air. If there is no compressed air, clean the channels or lubrication holes with a wooden stick, but under no circumstances with metal objects. Oil seals, gaskets, etc. must be replaced. Never skimp on these parts or install damaged parts.
- The sizing and adjustment tables give wear limits for most moving parts. When in doubt or if the wear limit is about to be reached, replace the part to avoid another disassembly.
- To purchase spare parts, contact only TOYOTA representative offices, and you must indicate the engine number. Since parts are constantly being updated, only a TOYOTA supplier can sell you the part you need.
