Checking the diesel engine Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve [Toyota Carina T190]

1. Checking circulation.

Apply vacuum to the diaphragm and check circulation between A and B.

Vacuum - circulation

• less than 100 mm Hg - no
• more than 200 mm Hg - yes

2. Checking for leaks.

Apply a vacuum of 500 mmHg to the diaphragm and make sure the needle stabilizes.
