2. Connect a tachometer. Connect the probe of the tachometer tester to the output "IG" (-) diagnostic socket.
Note:
- Never let the tachometer lead touch "land", as this may cause damage to the switch and/or ignition coil.
- Some tachometers are not compatible with this ignition system, so check your instrument for compatibility before use.
3. Check and adjust the ignition timing.
A) Use a jumper to short the leads "TE1" And "E1" diagnostic socket.
b) Check engine idling.
V) Connect a stroboscope and check the ignition timing.
- Ignition timing at idle - 8-12°to TDC (with closed outputs "TE1" And "E1").
G) If necessary, adjust the ignition timing by turning the distributor housing, loosening the bolts of its fastening.
d) Tighten the bolts and recheck the ignition timing.
e) Remove the jumper from the diagnostic socket.
4. Recheck the ignition timing.
Ignition timing at idle:
4A-FE, 7A-FE, 3S-FE
- 4S-FE - 10-20°BTDC
- 5A-FE - 5-15°to TDC
5. Remove the tachometer and stroboscope.
