2. Remove the washer reservoir.
3. Remove the power steering pump drive belt.
4. Remove the power steering pump.
A) Disconnect the hydraulic tube clamp.
b) Remove the power steering pump pulley.
V) Remove the power steering pump with air bypass hose by removing the 3 mounting bolts.
5. Remove the alternator drive belt.
6. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
A) Install the special tool on the crankshaft pulley.
b) Holding the pulley from turning with a special tool, unscrew the bolt securing the crankshaft pulley.
V) Using a special puller, remove the crankshaft pulley.
7. Remove the right engine mount.
A) Turn 1 (2WD) or 2 (4WD) fastening nuts.
b) Loosen the bolt and nut (2WD) or nut (4WD) fasteners and remove the shock absorber bracket of the right engine mount.
V) Remove the 3 bolts and remove the right shock absorber.
8. Remove the timing belt cover No. 2 by unscrewing 3 nuts and 5 fastening bolts,
10. Remove the timing belt guide.
11. Remove the bracket for the right engine mount by unscrewing the 4 mounting bolts.
12. Set the piston of cylinder No. 1 to TDC of the compression stroke.
Align the mark on the camshaft pulley with the cylinder head split line and the cylinder head cover by turning the crankshaft pulley clockwise.
13. Remove the timing belt.
Note: if the removed belt is to be reused, mark the direction of the belt in the direction of rotation of the crankshaft, as well as the marks on the pulleys and belt.
A) Using a screwdriver, remove the timing belt tensioner spring.
Warning: When removing the spring, do not use pliers, etc.
b) Loosen the idler pulley bolt.
V) Remove the timing belt.
14. Remove the camshaft pulley.
A) Holding the pulley from turning with a special tool, unscrew the bolt securing the camshaft pulley.
Note: Do not rotate the camshaft to avoid hitting the valves with the piston crowns.
b) Using the special tool, remove the camshaft pulley.
15. Remove the roller tensioner.
16. Remove the injection pump drive gear pulley.
A) Holding the high-pressure fuel pump drive pulley from turning with a special device, unscrew the pulley fastening nut.
Note: When loosening the nut, do not use an inertial puller.
b) Using the special tool, remove the injection pump drive pulley.
Note: The pulley is spring loaded, so hold it while removing it.
17. Remove the intermediate pulley.
18. Remove the oil pump drive pulley.
A) While holding the oil pump pulley from turning with a special tool, unscrew the pulley mounting nut.
b) Remove the oil pump pulley.
19. Using a special tool, remove the crankshaft sprocket.
During this operation, the crankshaft can turn, and since it is not synchronized with the camshaft, under certain circumstances it can bend the valves.
