Checking the V-belt
No special tool is required for this.
The following wearing parts are required:
- One V-belt. Its length depends on the engine type.
Too little tension on the V-belt leads to increased wear and tear and failure. If the belt is too tight, the bearings of the corresponding mechanisms may be damaged.
The V-belt must be replaced in the event of: excessive wear, frayed edges, oiliness, pores, or breaks.
Check the belt tension, replace or tighten.
Note: When installing a new belt, its tension must be checked again after 10 minutes of engine operation.
Replacing the timing belt
Incorrect installation of the timing belt can cause serious damage to the engine. Therefore, this operation must be carried out especially carefully. Replacing the timing belt is described in the section "Engine".
