Checking the cold start valve [Toyota Corolla E80]

The cold start valve is checked if the engine starts poorly and accelerates poorly when cold.

Disconnect the injection plug connection.



Connect an ohmmeter and measure the resistance of the cold start valve. The resistance should be equal to:

• 1.3L engine: 4.0-4.5 Ohm
• 1.6L engine 4A-FE: 3.0-5.0 Ohm
• 1.6L engine 4A-GE: 2.0-4.0 Ohm

If the measured resistance value differs from the specified one, the valve must be replaced.

To check the injection jet and the tightness of the valve, special tools are required, which are only available in specialized TOYOTA workshops.
