Checking the fuel pump [Toyota Corolla E80]

If the engine starts poorly or does not start at all, and also stalls while the car is moving, it is necessary to check the operation of the fuel pump. The fuel pump is located in the fuel tank. You can check its operation without dismantling the pump.

Check fuses ER 15A and IGN 7.5A. Replace defective fuses.

Turn off the ignition without starting the engine.



Connect the FP and +B terminals in the diagnostic connector with a wire.

Check for pressure by squeezing the fuel hose between the fuel filter and manifold.

There should be a noise of fuel flowing backwards. If there is no pressure and no noise of fuel, you need to check the electrical connections of the fuel pump. If they are OK, then you need to replace the fuel pump.

Remove the wire from the diagnostic connector.
