Note: before starting the check, warm up the transmission fluid to a temperature of 50-80°C.
Range check "D"
Translate the selector to a range "D" and depress the accelerator pedal all the way.
1. Check the presence of switching 1→2, 2→3, 3→4 and the compliance of the switching points with the values given in table 5.
Table 5. Switching points
Analysis of results.
Note: there is no 3→4 shift in the A132L automatic transmission, because it is three-tiered.
- A) No switching 1→2:
- defective solenoid valve No. 2,
- the switching valve 1→2 sticks.
- b) No switching 2→3:
- faulty solenoid valve No. 1,
- the switching valve 2→3 is stuck.
- V) No switching 3→4:
- the switching valve 3 → 4 sticks,
- G) The switching points do not correspond to table 5:
- throttle valve control cable not adjusted,
- Faulty throttle valve, shift valve 1→2, shift valve 2→3, shift valve 3→4, etc.
- d) There is no torque converter lockup:
- the torque converter clutch control solenoid valve sticks,
- blocking valve defective
- torque converter;
- e) A245E: Clutch slip lock does not work:
- the solenoid valve for controlling the quality of the torque converter lockup is stuck,
- the lock turnip valve is stuck.
2. Similarly, check for jolts and slippage of the friction controls during shifts 1→2, 2→3 and 3→4.
Analysis of results.
If strong shocks are felt during shifting:
- the pressure in the main line is too high,
- faulty hydraulic accumulator,
- check valve defect.
3. When working in third or overdrive, in the range "C, check for abnormal noise or vibration.
Attention: Noise and vibration may be caused due to imbalance of the cardan shaft, differential, transformer, etc.
4. Check for forced downshift operation (kick-down), 2→3→2, 4→З and the correspondence of the switching moments to the values given in Table 5. Analysis of the results.
If the downshift speeds do not match the table, then:
- improper adjustment of the throttle cable,
- faulty throttle valve, shift valve 1→2, shift valve 2→3, shift valve 3→4, etc.
5. Check up absence of shocks and slippage at forced lowering of transfer.
Checking the operation of the torque converter lock-up
1. When driving in overdrive at a steady speed, lockup should occur at about 70 km/h (for A132L - 55 km/h).
2. Lightly press the accelerator pedal: the speed should not change sharply. If there has been a sudden change, there is no blockage.
Range check "2"
1. Move the selector to position "2", fully depress the accelerator pedal. Check the presence of switching 1→2 and the compliance of the switching moment with the value indicated in table 5.
Attention: in the range "2" there is no overdrive and lock mode.
2. When driving in 2nd gear after load shedding, the engine braking mode should take place. If there is no engine braking, then the engine braking mode brake in second gear is faulty.
3. Check the noise and vibration levels during upshifting and downshifting.
Range check "L"
1. When driving in range "L" there should be no upshifts - the car should only move in first gear.
2. Load shedding (accelerator pedal release) engine braking should take place. If there is no engine braking, the first gear brake and reverse gear are faulty.
3. Check the level of noise and vibration when accelerating and decelerating the car.
Range check "R"
Move the selector to position "R", fully depress the accelerator pedal. Check for slippage of the friction controls.
Range check "R"
Park the car on a slope (at least 5°), move the selector to position 'P" and release the parking brake: the latch of the locking mechanism must hold the vehicle.
