Adjusting the parking brake [Toyota Land Cruiser J100]

1. The parking brake is set and released by means of a control lever located between the front seats. Adjusters built into the parking brake mechanisms automatically compensate for wear on the brake shoes. However, the gradual stretching of the drive cable over time leads to the need for additional adjustments. Full parking brake set on models is achieved by pulling the control handle 6-8 clicks of the ratchet.

2. Release the parking brake lever.

3. Remove the center console (see chapter Body).



4. By turning the lock nut (refer to the accompanying illustration) adjust the tension of the drive cable until the parking brake is fully engaged when the lever is pulled the required number of ratchet clicks.

5. Reinstall the center console (see chapter Body).
