Replace the switch if the contact closure does not match the diagram.

The electric window lifter operates the side windows and is made up of switches, relays, motors, a window lifter and wires.

The electric drive is activated either by the main switch on the driver's door or by remote switches on each of the doors. Lowering or raising is controlled by the position of each switch. A reversible electric motor is mounted in each door.

The electric drive circuit is protected by a fuse and a circuit breaker. Each electric motor is additionally equipped with an individual circuit breaker so that if one drive fails, the drives of the remaining windows are not disconnected.

The electric window lifter only works when the ignition is on. Most cars have a locking switch that disables the electric windows except the driver's window (on some cars only rear windows).

Below are general troubleshooting procedures that you can perform yourself. If the problem cannot be fixed with these procedures, contact a car service center.

Examination

1. If the power windows of all the windows do not work, first check the fuse and the circuit breaker.

2. If only the rear window lifts do not work, or the drive only works from the main switch, then check the closure of the contacts of the blocking switch. If the contacts do not close, then replace the switch.

3. Check the condition of the wiring between the switches and the fuse, repair if necessary.

4. If only one window does not work, check the main switch and the switch for the window that is not working (except for the driver's license).

5. If the window lifter works only from one switch, then check the switch contacts closure according to the attached diagram. If the test results are negative, then replace the switch.

6. If the switch is OK, check the circuit between the switch and the motor.

7. If the same window regulator does not work from both switches, remove the panel, turn on the window regulator and check the voltage at the switch and the electric motor.

8. If there is voltage on the electric motor, then disconnect the glass from the window regulator and check its free movement up and down. Also check the free movement of the window regulator. If there is no damage and the glass moves freely, then replace the electric motor. Otherwise, lubricate the parts or replace.

9. If there is no voltage on the electric motor, check the wires from the switches to the electric motors. If the circuit includes a relay, check for voltage on the relay and its connection to ground.

10. When finished, check the operation of the window lift.
