The system consists of a control unit, a brake light switch, switches and a speed sensor. This system is serviced at a car service center, but the general nature of the malfunction can be determined independently.
Examination
1. Check the fuse.
2. Check the operation of the brake light switch (voltage from the switch deactivates the cruise control system).
3. If the brake lights do not come on or do not turn off, troubleshoot the cause and retest the cruise control system.
4. Check the freedom of movement of the cruise control cable, replace if necessary.
5. The cruise control speed sensor is mounted in the speedometer. Check the condition of the connectors on the instrument panel.
6. Check the system operation during a test drive. If the system does not operate normally, contact a car service center.
