Screws for adjusting the halogen lamp beam
1. Bolt A for horizontal adjustment; 2. Bolt C for vertical adjustment; 3. Bolt B for horizontal adjustment; 4. Horizontal adjustment level; 5. Level of vertical adjustment
Screen layout for headlight beam adjustment
1. A line from the floor to the center of the headlights; 2. Light spot area; 3. Line at a distance from the axis of symmetry of the car to the center of the headlights; 4. Axis of symmetry of the car; 5. Distance 7.5m; 6. The front plane of the headlight
Removal and installation
1. Disconnect the battery from the ground.
Headlights with non-separable optical element
2. Remove headlight cover. On FJ62 vehicles, remove the turn signal cover.
3. When removing the headlight, do not turn the spring-loaded beam adjustment screws.
4. Loosen the frame mounting screws and remove the optical element frame while holding the headlight.
5. Pull the headlight out and disconnect the connector. Remove headlight.
6. Attach the connector, orienting the new element so that the molded numbers on the lens face up.
7. Install the frame, tighten the screws, insert the spring.
8. Check beam adjustment (if the adjusting screw is turned).
Halogen headlights
Attention! Halogen lamps are gas-filled, pressurized. It is forbidden to take the bulb of the lamp. Wipe the dirty lamp with a clean cloth moistened with alcohol.
9. Disconnect the connector from the back of the headlight.
10. Turn the holder counterclockwise and remove from the case.
11. Pull the lamp out of the holder. Insert a new lamp without touching the bulb.
12. Plug in the connector and test the headlight.
Adjustment
Attention! Headlight alignment should be checked every 12 months, when a headlight is replaced or after a front end repair. It should be noted that the described procedure allows only approximately adjusting the headlights, fine adjustment is carried out in a car service.
1. On the headlight housing with a non-separable optical element, there are 2 spring-loaded screws for vertical adjustment (above) and horizontal (side) planes.
2. Adjustment of the halogen headlight is provided by screws on the housing (see fig. Screws for adjusting the halogen lamp beam). By turning the screws, the central position of the level indicator located at the top of the headlight is adjusted.
3. The easiest way to adjust is to set the beam according to the markings on the screen (wall).
4. Mark the crosshairs with a tape symmetrically to the axis of the car (see fig. Screen layout for headlight beam adjustment). For more accurate marking, drive up to the wall at a distance of about 20 cm.
5. Install the car 7.5 m from the wall.
6. Adjustment is carried out with normal loading of the car and a half-empty tank. Position the dipped beam headlights so that the light spot is 5 cm below the horizontal and 5 cm to the right of the vertical. To lift the beam, turn the screw clockwise and vice versa. The same goes for left-right adjustment.
7. Turn on your high beam headlights and adjust the beam so that the spot is strictly on a vertical line, just below the horizontal.
Attention! It may not be possible to precisely set the high and low beams in this way. In this case, try to more accurately adjust the dipped beam, with which you have to drive more often and on which traffic safety depends to a greater extent.
8. Have your headlights adjusted by a workshop as soon as possible.
