Adjusting the idle speed with the air conditioner on [Toyota Land Cruiser J70]

1. Before adjustment it is necessary:

a) Set the gear shift lever to neutral position.

b) Warm up the engine to operating temperature.

c) Check:
  • is an air purifier installed;
  • are all vacuum lines connected correctly?;
  • thermal valve clearance;
  • fuel injection advance angle;
  • is the idle speed set correctly?.

2. Connect the tachometer.

3. Adjust the established rotation speed with the air conditioner on:

a) Start the engine.

b) Set the following positions of the switches and air conditioner control knobs:
  • Compressor switch - in the "ON" position.
  • Fan switch - to the "HI" position.
  • Set the air intake control handle to the recirculation position: "RECIRCULATED AIR".
  • Set the air flow control knob to the "FACE" position.
  • Set the temperature control knob to the "COOL" position

c) Disconnect the vacuum tube from the actuator.





d) Connect the vacuum pump to the actuator.



d) Increase the engine speed to 2500 rpm, wait a few seconds, release the pedal and check the speed with the air conditioner on.

Idle reset speed — 950 rpm

e) Adjust the rotation speed with the air conditioner on using the adjusting screw.





g) Increase the engine speed to 2500 rpm, wait a few seconds, release the pedal, then check the speed again with the air conditioner on.

c) Connect the vacuum tube to the actuator.
