With the vehicle stationary, with the wheels in the straight ahead position, gently rock the steering wheel back and forth with light finger pressure.
The play must not exceed the maximum value.
- Maximum backlash - 40 mm
In case of discrepancy, repair.
2. Set the wheels to drive in a straight line.
3. Adjust the steering mechanism.
A) Loosen the lock nut and turn the adjusting screw clockwise to decrease steering wheel play and counterclockwise to increase steering wheel play.
Note: Turn the adjusting screw a small amount and check the play after each turn of the screw.
4. Check for steering wheel sticking.
A) Turn the steering wheel half way in both directions.
b) Check the amount of play, the smoothness of the steering wheel and the absence of jamming.
5. While holding the adjusting screw, tighten the locknut.
