15.2.1. Checking the brake pads
If you hear squeaks when you press the brake pedal, you should check the brake pads. The brake calipers have a wear indicator. If it approaches 2.5 mm to the brake disc, the above squeaks appear. The thickness of the brake pads can be controlled without removing them. You just need to remove the front wheels. The brake caliper cylinder has two inspection holes (Pic. 236), through which the thickness of the pads can be approximately measured, at least it can be determined that they have worn down to a thickness of 1.0 mm. Never check the thickness of the pads on one side only, as it may be that the brake pad on the other side has different wear. Also replace the brake pads when the difference between the pads in the set exceeds 2.0 mm.
