- When carrying out any work that affects the fuel injection device, the following precautions must be taken:
- Before working on the device, be sure to disconnect the battery.
- Do not smoke or work with open flames near the engine compartment.
- Do not allow fuel to come into contact with rubber or leather parts.
- Use the battery only for connecting a strobe light, speed meter, etc.
- When washing the engine compartment, do not pour water on the fuel injection device.
- Before disconnecting the connector from the electrical element of the device, either turn off the ignition, or better yet, disconnect the battery.
- When installing the battery, observe the polarity.
- While removing parts (it is recommended to do this at a service station) handle components, especially the control unit, with great care.
- All parts must be replaced assemblies.
- When disconnecting the connector, remove the latch as shown on the left side of Figure 139 and then disconnect the connector as shown on the right side of the figure. When connecting, press both parts of the connector until the locking spring snaps into place.
Pic. 139. When disconnecting the connectors, lift the fixing spring as shown in the figure (2) and remove the connector. When connecting the connectors, the spring must be securely fixed.
- When disconnecting pipelines, substitute a container. Slowly unscrew the union nut and carefully disconnect the tube. Open pipelines must be properly sealed to prevent dirt from entering. When tightening a union nut or hollow bolt, first tighten them with your fingers and then tighten them to a torque of 32 - 44 Nm. If there are o-rings, they must be replaced,
- When removing injectors, be sure to replace the sealing rings. Lubricate the sealing rings with fuel, not engine oil.
