Rear Disc Brakes — Checking and Adjusting [Toyota Carina T190]

1. Adjust the parking brake shoe clearance.

a) Remove the wheel and secure the disc with two nuts.

b) Release the parking brake lever completely.

c) Remove the plug from the brake disc.

d) Align the hole in the disk with the adjusting screw.

d) Turn the adjusting screw until the pads lock the disc.



e) Make sure that the pad is fully seated on the disc. Turn the screw in the opposite direction until the disc starts to rotate freely.



g) Make sure that the parking brake cable is not overtightened.

c) Install the plug, nut and wheel.

2. If necessary, adjust the travel of the parking brake lever.

a) Remove the ashtray.



b) Remove the additional side trim from the center console.





c) Remove the additional storage compartment of the center console.



d) Remove the gear shift lever hole trim.



d) Remove the lower trim of the center console.



e) Loosen the lock nut and, by turning the adjusting nut, set the required travel of the parking brake lever.





g) Tighten the lock nut.
  • Tightening torque - 5.5 Nm

i) Install the lower center console trim.

c) Install the gear shift lever hole trim.

l) Install the additional storage compartment in the center console.

m) Install additional side trim for the center console.

n) Install the ashtray.
