2. Remove the seat belt.
3. Remove the side trim of the rear pillar.
4. Remove a decorative cover of a stoplight and an additional stoplight.
5. Remove the rear shelf.
6. Remove the rear wheel.
7. Disconnect the brake hose and speed sensor from the rack.
Removing the rear suspension strut
1 - rear side door seal,
2 - upper trim of the rear pillar,
3 - seat belt,
4 - rear shelf,
5 - decorative brake light cover,
6 - additional brake light assembly,
7 - rear seat cushion,
8 - rear seat back.
8. Disconnect the anti-roll bar from the rear suspension strut.
10. Remove the rear shock absorber strut with spring.
A) Loosen the two nuts on the underside of the rack.
b) Place a jack under your fist.
V) Remove the plug.
G) Loosen the strut nut.
d) Loosen the three rack mounting nuts.
e) Slowly lower the jack and remove the two bolts from the underside of the strut.
6. Remove the spring.
A) Install the bolt and two nuts on the bracket at the bottom of the stand and secure it in a vise.
b) Install the special tool on the spring as shown in the figure.
V) Using the special tool, compress the spring.
Attention: when compressing the spring, do not hook the special tool on the lower and upper coils of the spring. Also, be careful not to damage the lower spring seat.
G) Unscrew the nut and remove the upper support of the rack, the compression stroke limiter, the spring, the lower vibration isolator.
Shock absorber check
Pulling and sinking the shock absorber rod, check that its stroke is smooth and there is no extraneous resistance or noise.
If defective, replace shock absorber.
