Removing
1. Remove a back seat and facing of a ware tray.
2. Raise the rear of the car and place on stands. Remove the wheel.
3. On vehicles equipped with ABS, remove the flexible hose and speed sensor from the shock absorber.
4. Disconnect the brake hose from the strut. On vehicles equipped with ABS, disconnect the wires from the wheel speed sensor.
5. Disconnect the stabilizer link from the strut.
6. Place a jack under the rear axle bracket.
7. Release nuts of bolts of fastening of a rack to an arm of a suspension bracket (arrows) and knock out the bolts. Bolts can only be knocked out after removing the nuts and jacking up the suspension bracket. Keep in mind that the rack is quite heavy and the work should be done by two people, the assistant should support the rack if necessary.
8. Loosen the three nuts on the upper strut-to-body mount.
9. Jack down the suspension bracket and remove the two strut-to-bracket bolts.
10. Remove the stand.
Examination
Follow the procedures in Section 3. If disassembly is necessary to replace the spring or strut, follow the procedures in Section 4.
Installation
1. Working with two people, install the strut into the wheel arch so that the top mount studs fit into the holes and screw on the nuts.
2. Insert the bracket into the rack flange, insert the bolts and tighten the nuts. Tighten the nuts to the specified torque.
3. Attach the stabilizer link to the strut bracket.
4. Attach the brake hose to the strut. On vehicles equipped with ABS, connect the wires to the speed sensor.
5. Install the wheel and lower the car.
6. Tighten the three top strut nuts to the specified torque.
7. Install the rear seat and storage tray trim.
