Removing
Note:
- - Do not remove the thermostat unless necessary.
- - When the thermostat is removed, the engine tends to overcool, so the thermostat should not be removed even if the engine overheats. The optimum operating temperature for the engine is around 95°C.
Serie A
1 - bypass valve,
2 - gasket,
3 - coolant inlet pipe,
4 - thermostat.
3S-FE, 4S-FE
1 - inlet pipe of the cooling system,
2 - gasket,
3 - thermostat,
4 - bypass valve.
2C
1 - inlet pipe of the cooling system,
2 - gasket,
3 - thermostat,
4 - bypass valve.
Removing
1. Drain the coolant.
2. Remove the thermostat.
A) Turn away two nuts of fastening and disconnect an inlet branch pipe from the pump of a cooling liquid.
b) Remove the thermostat.
V) Remove the gasket from the thermostat.
Installation
1. Install the thermostat in the inlet.
A) Install a new gasket on the thermostat.
b) Align the thermostat bypass valve with the protrusion on the inlet fitting.
2. Install the inlet fitting and tighten the two nuts.
3. Fill in coolant.
4. Warm up the engine and check for leaks.
Examination
1. Check the thermostat
Note: as a rule, the thermostat body is marked with numbers indicating the temperature at which the valve starts to open.
A) Dip the thermostat in water and heat slowly.
b) Check the opening temperature of the thermostat valve.
- Opening temperature - 80-84°С
- The maximum allowable opening temperature is 95°C
If the valve opening temperature does not match, replace the thermostat.
V) Check valve lift.
- Valve lift - 8.0 mm
If the valve opening temperature does not match, replace the thermostat.
G) Make sure the valve is held closed by a spring when the thermostat is cold. Otherwise, replace the thermostat.
