The oil level in the rear axle differential is monitored in vehicles with automatic transmission and in all-wheel drive vehicles.

Applicable oil: Automatic transmission oil ATF Dexron-II. For all-wheel drive vehicles API GL-5 Hypoid SAE 90.

Examination

Automatic transmission

Place the car horizontally on the lift.

Remove the engine and gearbox covers, if present.

Visually check the gearbox for leaks.

Unscrew the filler plug on the back side (in the direction of the vehicle's movement) gearbox housing.

Check the oil level with your finger. The oil should be at the level of the hole or no more than 5 mm below it. If necessary, add Dexron-II oil.

Replace the plug and tighten it, but not too tightly.

Replace the engine and gearbox covers, if equipped.

Remove the car from the lift.
