Removing
Remove cylinder head.
Remove camshaft.
Attention: If the valve guides are to be used again in the future, they must be installed in their original positions. To avoid confusion when assembling the valve mechanism, it is recommended to place its parts in a specially designed cassette.
1.3 l engine from 8/84: Raise the upper spring bar and remove the lever with a screwdriver. Mark the lever.
Engines with two overhead camshafts and diesel: Remove the tappet and place it in the operating position in the cassette.
Remove valve springs. For this, specialized workshops use the SST 09202-70010 tool. The valve cotters, and then the valves, can also be removed using a standard puller.
Compress the valve springs and remove the cotters. Remove puller. Take out the valve. Remove the upper spring plates, valve springs and spring retainer.
Take out the oil seal.
Installation
If old valves and an old cylinder head are installed, the valve guides must be checked before assembly. If new valves are installed in the old cylinder head, the valves must be lapped to the seats.
Clean the valves with a metal brush from carbon deposits.
1.3L engine: Check levers, rocker arms and rocker shaft for cracks and wear.
Lightly lubricate the valve stems with oil and reinstall the valves. Lubricate the chamfers of the new valves for lapping lapping paste.
Thoroughly clean all elements of the valve mechanism, lubricate the moving parts with engine oil.
Always install new oil seals.
Insert the valves into the guide bushings of the cylinder head. Make sure the intake and exhaust valves are in place (Pic. G-1062, IN - intake, EX - exhaust).
Install the spring washers.
Install valve springs and spring plates.
Compress the valve springs with a spring compressor and insert the cotters so that they are fixed in the groove of the valve stem. Open the tool and install the next valve.
Lightly hit the valve stem with a rubber mallet, ensuring that the crackers are seated.
Engine displacement of 1.3 liters from 8/84 release. Install the levers and their elastic elements with a screwdriver.
Engines with two camshafts located at the top and diesel. Lubricate all cylindrical tappets with engine oil and insert them into the holes.
Install camshaft.
Install a new cylinder head gasket and cylinder head.
Adjust gaps in valve mechanism.
