Note. The content of carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons in the exhaust gases is controlled by the engine ECU.
Start the engine.
Let the engine run at 2500 rpm–1 for about 180 s.
Insert the gas analyzer probe at least 40 cm into the exhaust pipe (the engine is idling).
Check the content of carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons at idle and / or at a speed of 2500 rpm–1.
If carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons do not meet emission standards, follow the troubleshooting procedures in the order listed below.
Check the functionality of the heated oxygen sensor.
Possible causes of malfunctions are given in table 2.16. Perform troubleshooting and correct them.
