1. The drive control switch is usually equipped with a selector assembly that allows you to select the direction of voltage supply (on the right or left mirror). Without starting the engine, turn the ignition key to the ON position, lower the door windows and test all modes of operation of the electric drive of both side mirrors.
2. Listen carefully to the sounds made by the electric motors of the mirror drive.
3. If the motor seems to work properly, but the mirror does not change its position, there may be a defect in the drive mechanism inside the mirror. Remove the relevant mirror and disassemble it to find the cause of the failure.
4. If the mirrors do not function and the motors of their drives do not make any sounds, check the condition of the corresponding fuse (see chapter Vehicle settings and routine maintenance).
5. If the fuse is OK, remove the power mirror operation control switch from its support (do not disconnect the wiring). Turn on the ignition and check the power supply to the switch. There must be voltage at one of the switch connector terminals, otherwise check the condition of the connecting wiring in the area between the switch and the fuse mounting block.
6. If the power is supplied properly, disconnect the electrical wiring and check the correct distribution of conductivity between the switch terminals in its various positions (in the OFF position there should be no conduction).
7. A defective switch must be replaced.
8. Restore the original wiring connection and locate the ground wire of the switch assembly. Duplicate grounding with a jumper wire. If the motor now starts to function, you should restore the quality of the ground assembly to ground.
9. If the ground is good and the drive still does not work, remove the cover from the mirror assembly and check the power supply to the drive motor. Turn the ignition on and move the selector switch of the control assembly to adjust the appropriate mirror. When moving the mirror position adjustment key to any of the operating positions, voltage must be applied to the actuator of the latter.
10. If there is a problem with the power supply, check the condition of the wiring in the area between the circuit breaker and the drive.
11. If the voltage is supplied properly, remove the mirror and check the correct functioning of its drive by direct power supply from the battery:
- a. Using jumper wires, connect the positive pole of the battery to terminal No. 3 of the drive motor, the negative terminal No. 1, the mirror should turn to the left;
- b. When changing polarity, the mirror should turn to the right;
- c. Now connect the battery between terminals 2 (positive pole) and 1 (negative pole), the mirror should turn up;
- d. When the polarity of the battery connection is reversed, the mirror should turn down.
12. A defective mirror must be replaced (see chapter Body).
