Attention! When working on any part of the fuel system, observe fire safety regulations.
1. Before repairing any part of the fuel system, be sure to relieve fuel pressure to avoid fire and personal injury.
2. Unscrew the filler cap. This ensures the release of residual pressure in the tank.
3. Disconnect the connector from the fuel pump (1). On later models, access to the connector is provided through a hole in the rear wheel well. On models 1991-94. You need to remove the rear seat, carpet and sunroof. On 1988-90 models, remove pump relay, crank engine with starter (if access to the connector under the tank is difficult).
4. Start the engine, wait for the engine to stop and turn off the ignition.
5. After performing these measures, there is no pressure in the fuel system.
6. Before loosening the hose clamp or unscrewing the fuel line fitting, lay a rag to avoid spilled gasoline from getting on the engine.
7. Before starting work, disconnect the battery from the ground.
