Checking the fuel vapor emission control system [Toyota Camry XV20]

The fuel vapor emission control system is designed to capture fuel vapors contained in the fuel tank and fuel system using a carbon filter.



A sign of system failure is a strong smell of gasoline around and in the car itself. Check the carbon filter and its hoses (indicated by arrows) for damage.



The latest models have a carbon filter (indicated by the arrow) located at the rear of the engine.
