Removal the gearbox [Toyota Land Cruiser J70]

1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.

2. Loose fan shroud fastening to avoid damage.



3. Removing the gear shift lever inside the car.

a) Unscrew the four bolts and remove the gear shift lever cover.



b) Cover the gear shift lever cap with a cloth.

c) Press the shift lever cap, turn it counterclockwise and remove it.



d) Remove the gear shift lever.



4. Raise the vehicle and place it on stands.

5. Disconnect the cardan shafts.

6. Unscrew the four bolts and remove the bracket.



7. Unscrew the two bolts and remove the clutch slave cylinder.

Note: Do not disconnect the hydraulic line from the slave cylinder.




8. Unscrew the bolt and nut, remove the starter.



9. Remove the clamps and disconnect the vacuum hoses from the air drive on the transfer case.





10. Disconnect the connectors of the four-wheel drive sensor (4WD) and the reverse light switch.



11. Disconnect the low gear switch connector (L4).

12. Disconnect the speedometer drive cable from the transfer case.



13. Loosen the mounting nuts and remove the exhaust pipe



14. Unscrew the eight bolts and two nuts, remove the crossmember





15. Loosen the remaining mounting bolts and remove the gearbox assembly with the transfer case by sliding it back.
