Throttle Body (EJ Series)
Removal
Note:
- When removing and installing, use the assembly drawing "Removing and installing the throttle body".
- Do not disconnect coolant hoses while the engine is hot.
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.
2. (Models with automatic transmission) Disconnect the throttle valve cable from the engine side.
3. Disconnect the accelerator cable.
4. Disconnect the hoses.
5. Loosen the tie bolts and remove the throttle body.
Examination
1. Check that there is no excessive play in the throttle body lever.
The article was copied from the portal (TOYOTAMAN.ru)
2. Make sure that the throttle body passages are not clogged.
3. Make sure the throttle valve opens and closes smoothly.
4. Make sure that when the throttle valve is fully closed, there is no gap between the screw and the lever.
5. Check the throttle position sensor.
a) Check the resistance between terminals "VC" and "E2".
- Nominal resistance - 2.5-6.0 kOhm
b) Check the resistance between terminals "VTH" - "E2" of the throttle position sensor.

Make sure that the resistance changes depending on the valve opening angle.
Nominal resistance:
- throttle valve fully closed - 0.4 kOhm
- throttle fully open - 3.4 kOhm
6. Check the idle speed control valve using an oscilloscope (see subsection "Checking injection system components using an oscilloscope").
Installation
1. Clean the mounting surfaces and install a new throttle body gasket.
2. Connect the fuel vapor recovery system hose going to the fuel vapor canister to port (A) and the fuel hose going to the throttle body to port (B).

3. Install the stand, temporarily tighten the bolt on the cover side, tighten the nut on the intake manifold side, finally tighten the bolt.
4. Install the accelerator cable. Adjust the free play of the accelerator cable.
- Free play - 1-5 mm
5. Connect the throttle valve cable from the engine side.
6. Connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery.
