1. Remove the flywheel or torque converter drive plate (see section "Cylinder block" chapters "Petrol engines 4A-FE, 5A-FE, 7A-FE").
2. Place the engine on the disassembly stand.
3. Remove the timing belt and pulleys (see section "Timing belt").
4. Remove the cylinder head (see section "Cylinder head").
5. Remove the fuel injection pump. (See chapter "Fuel system of diesel engine 2C").
6. Remove the coolant pump (see chapter "Cooling system").
7. Remove the generator assembly and the generator drive belt tension adjustment bracket.
8. Remove the oil pan and oil pump (see chapter "Smear system").
9. Loosen the bolts, disconnect the pipes and hoses and remove the oil filter bracket and filter.
