1. (Manual transmission) Remove the cover and clutch disc.

2. (Manual transmission) Remove the flywheel.

3. (Automatic transmission) Remove the drive disc.

4. Remove the rear end cover. Remove the two bolts, end cover and dust cover.



Disassembling the cylinder block (L series): 1- front oil seal; 2-bolt (M.Z. 23 Nm), 3 - timing belt cover, 4 - gasket, 5 - cylinder block, 6 - nut (54 Nm + 90°), 7 - connecting rod cap, 8 - connecting rod bearing shell, 9 - connecting rod, 10 - retaining ring, 11 - piston, 12 - piston rings No.1 and No.2, 13 • oil scraper ring (ring and expander), 14 - piston pin, 15 - connecting rod bushing, 16 - flywheel (manual transmission) or leading disk (automatic transmission), 17 - rear end cover, 18 - crankshaft rear oil seal, 19 - gasket, 20 - rear oil seal holder, 21 - dust cover, 22 - bolt (M. 3.123 N·m - manual transmission) (98 N·m - automatic transmission), 23 - crankshaft, 24 - main bearing shell, 25 - main bearing thrust half ring, 26 - main bearing cap, 27 - bolt (M. 3.103 N·m).

5. Place the engine on the disassembly stand.

6. Remove the generator.

7. Remove the timing belt and pulleys.

8. Remove the cylinder head

9. (KZ only) Remove the generator and generator bracket.

10. Remove the water pump.

11. (KZ only) Remove the fuel injection pump and timing belt drive gears.

12. Remove the fuel injection pump.

13. (KZ only) Remove the oil pan, oil pump and rear gear cover.

14. (KZ only) Remove the oil cooler

15. Remove the water pipe and thermostat.

16. Remove the coolant temperature sensor.

17. Remove the engine mount.



Disassembling the cylinder block (KZ series): 1 - piston pin, 2 - piston rings, 3 - connecting rod bushing, 4 - flywheel, 5 - piston, 6 - rear plate, 7 - retaining ring, 8 - connecting rod, 9 - connecting rod bearing shells, 10 - connecting rod cap, 11 - rear oil seal holder, 12 - jet, 13 - right balance shaft, 14 - balance shaft thrust plate, 15 - left balance shaft, 16 - check valve, 17 - oil nozzle, 18 - balance shaft driven gear, 19 - crankshaft, 20 - thrust bearing, 21 - main bearing, 22 - main bearing cap, 23 - gasket, 24 - oil receiver, 25 - oil pan, 26 - pad.
