2. Checking the accessory drive belt, see section "General Inspection and Adjustment Procedures".
Visually inspect the wires going to the generator, check the reliability of their connection, the condition of the wiring, as well as the presence of extraneous noise coming from the generator when the engine is running.
4. Check the battery charge indicator circuit.
A) Warm up the engine and turn it off.
b) Turn off all additional equipment.
V) Turn on the ignition (key in position "ON"). Make sure the battery charging indicator light comes on.
G) Start the engine. Make sure the lamp is off.
If these conditions are not met, check the test lamp circuit.
5. Checking the electrical circuit of the generator without load.
Note: if you have a tester to check the generator and battery, connect the latter in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
A) If you don't have a tester, do the following:
- Disconnect the wire from generator B and connect it to the negative terminal of the ammeter.
- Connect the wire from the positive terminal of the ammeter to the terminal "IN" generator.
- Connect the positive lead of the voltmeter to the lead "IN" generator.
- Connect the negative lead of the voltmeter to "weight".
b) Measure the alternator output voltage and current from idle speed up to 2000 rpm.
- Current strength - no more than 10 A
Output voltage:
- at 25°C - 13.9-15.1 V
- at 115°C - 13.5 -14.3 V
If the voltage is greater than the specified value, then replace the voltage regulator.
If the voltage is less than the specified value, do the following:
Connect Lead "F" With "weight", start the engine and measure the voltage at the output "IN".
If the voltage is less than the specified value, then check the generator.
If the voltage is greater than the specified value, then replace the voltage regulator.
6. Measure the voltage at the output of the generator and the current in the circuit "battery generator" at 2000 rpm, high beam headlights on and heater fan switch on ("HI").
- Current strength - not less than 30 A
If the current is less than the specified value, then repair the generator.
Note: With a fully charged battery, the output current may be less than the specified value.
