For 1.3L engines only (contact ignition system (UKZ)
To adjust the contacts of the breaker, specialized workshops use a special measuring device. The advantage of this device is the possibility of precise adjustment of the angle of the closed state even with slight burning of the contact surfaces. For adjustment it is necessary to connect the device according to the instructions. The contacts can also be adjusted by measuring the gap between the contacts with a feeler gauge.
Checking the angle of the closed state of the contacts using the device.
Connect the device according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Start the engine at idle speed and read the instrument readings.
The closing angle should be 52°±6°. If the measured value does not match the set value, then the angle must be adjusted.
Adjusting the angle of the closed state of the contacts using the device
Open the latches on the distributor housing and remove the cover.
Lay the cover aside in such a way that an accidental ignition spark can be deflected through the ground and not transferred to the housing.
Loosen screw 2 without turning it out.
Set transmission to neutral position. Engage the handbrake. Turn the engine over with the starter and adjust the closed angle by moving the base plate.
If the angle of the closed state is too small, it is necessary to reduce the distance between the contact block and the distributor cams. If the angle is large, then it is necessary to increase the specified distance.
After reaching the specified angle value, tighten the fixing screws and check the angle again.
Start the engine at idle, check the angle of the closed state of the contacts again.
Adjusting the angle of the closed state of the contacts with a probe
If a special device for adjusting the angle of the closed state of the contacts is not possible to adjust the maximum gap of the contacts using a feeler gauge. However, later it must still be checked with a special device.
Remove distributor cap. Take out the slider. Engage fourth gear and move the car on a flat surface so that the plastic contact block is at the lowest point between the two cams of the distributor shaft.
Loosen screw 2 in fig. G-1205 without turning it inside out.
Measure the gap between the distributor shaft and the plastic block with a feeler gauge. If the gap is properly adjusted, the feeler gauge should be tight.
The gap should be equal to 0.45 mm.
If the gap deviates from the specified value, adjust the angle of the closed state by moving the breaker base plate until the feeler gauge is tight.
After reaching the specified clearance, tighten the fastening screw.
Attention: Due to the insufficient accuracy of adjustment with a probe, it is necessary to adjust the angle of the closed state of the contacts with the device.
Install the slider. In this case, the protrusion of the slider must fall into the groove of the shaft.
Replace the cover and close the latch.
Adjust ignition timing.
