Power steering pump location
Power Steering Pump Assembly Components
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Attention! If the stereo system installed in the car is equipped with a security code, before disconnecting the battery, make sure that you have the correct combination to activate the audio system!
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly (see chapter Power supply and exhaust systems).
3. Remove the drive belt (see chapter Vehicle settings and routine maintenance).
4. Get under assembly of the steering pump drain capacity. Disconnect the pressure and return lines of the hydraulic path from the rear of the pump (refer to the illustration Location of the power steering pump). Seal the open ends of the lines immediately to prevent dirt from entering the system.
5. If the pump is to be replaced, remove the drive pulley from the pump.
Note. The pulley can be removed on a workbench after the pump has been removed from the vehicle.
6. Give the fasteners and remove the steering pump assembly from the engine compartment, try to prevent splashing of hydraulic fluid on the painted body surfaces.
7. The power steering assembly components are shown in the illustration Power steering pump assembly components.
8. Installation is in the reverse order. Make sure the appropriate fasteners are tightened to the correct torque.
9. Fill the steering pump reservoir with the required amount of the correct grade of hydraulic fluid (see chapter Vehicle settings and routine maintenance), then bleed the power steering system (see Section Removing air from the hydraulic path of the power steering system).
