Generator Installation Details
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Attention! If the stereo system installed in the car is equipped with a security code, before disconnecting the battery, make sure that you have the correct combination to activate the audio system!
2. Drain the coolant.
3. Remove the alternator drive belt.
4. Remove the crankcase protection and radiator.
5. Remove the power steering pump pulley.
6. Mark the electrical wiring and grounding buses connected to the generator and disconnect them from the assembly.
7. Turn out the adjusting and axial bolts, as well as the lock nut from the generator adjusting bar (refer to illustration above).
8. When replacing the generator, take the block removed from the engine to the store - the replacement must exactly match it in size, the terminals must have the same marking, size and location, stamped on the case, or the identification marking applied to the nameplate must match.
9. New/remanufactured generators may be marketed without a drive pulley, in which case the drive pulley must be re-assembled from the old assembly.
10. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
11. Finally, adjust the drive belt tension (see chapter Vehicle settings and routine maintenance) and check the charge voltage (see Section Checking the state of the charge system).
