Examination
The sensor-switch provides the possibility of starting the engine in only two positions AT: «R» and «N». If the engine starts in any other position of the lever, therefore, the start enable switch is faulty or its adjustment is broken. First of all, you should check the condition of the sensor-switch. A defective sensor-switch must be replaced.
Adjustment
1. Move the AT selector lever to position «N».
2. Jack up the car and put it on stands.
3. Loosen the sensor-switch mounting bolt (refer to accompanying illustration).
4. Align the mounting slot with the base neutral mark (refer to illustration above).
5. Having fixed the sensor-switch in the selected position, tighten the fixing bolt with the required force.
Replacement
1. If it interferes, remove the exhaust pipe and the heat shield (see chapter Power supply and exhaust systems).
2. Release collars and disconnect tubes of an oil cooler.
3. Disconnect the electrical wiring from the start enable switch.
4. Bend back a lock washer and give a fixing nut.
5. Turn out a bolt of fastening of the gauge switch (refer to illustration above).
6. Remove the sensor switch.
7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Tighten fasteners to the required torque. Do not forget to adjust the sensor-switch and make sure that it is functioning properly.
