1. Check the freedom of movement of the actuating lever when shifting the shift rod from the position «R» to all other transmission positions - if the indication of the selector indicator does not match the actually selected position, the drive rod should be adjusted.
2. Jack up the car and put it on stands.
3. Loosen the nut securing the shift rod to the selector lever (refer to accompanying illustration).
4. Depress the hand lever on the transmission (small lever that connects the shift rod to the hand shaft in the transmission) to the right until it stops, then return it two clicks back, thereby moving it to the AT neutral position.
5. Move the selector lever inside the car to the position «N».
6. Ask the assistant to fix the selector lever in position «N» and from below, tighten the nut that secures the shift rod to it with the required force.
7. Adjust the start enable switch (see Section Check, adjustment and replacement of the sensor switch of permission to start).
8. Make sure that the adjustment is correct: the selector lever must be freely transferred to each of the positions provided for by the design of the device, while starting the engine should only be possible in the positions «R» and «N» lever. If necessary, repeat the adjustment, ensuring that all of the above conditions are met.
