1. Check the freedom of movement of the actuator lever when moving the shift rod from the "P" position to all other transmission positions - if the selector indicator reading does not match the actually selected position, the drive rod should be adjusted.

2. Jack up the car and place it on supports.

3. Loosen the nut securing the shift rod to the selector lever (refer to the accompanying illustration).

4. Press the manual lever on the transmission (a small lever that connects the shift rod to the manual shaft in the transmission) to the right until it stops, then return it back two clicks, thereby moving it to the AT neutral position.

5. Move the selector lever inside the vehicle to the "N" position.

6. Ask an assistant to lock the selector lever in the "N" position and tighten the nut securing the shift rod to it from below with the required force.

7. Adjust the start enable switch sensor (see section Checking, adjusting and replacing the start enable switch sensor).

8. Make sure that the adjustment is correct: the selector lever should move freely to each of the positions provided by the design of the device, while starting the engine should only be possible in the "P" and "N" positions of the lever. If necessary, repeat the adjustment, ensuring that all the above conditions are met.
