Attention! If your radio has an anti-theft code, check that you have the pairing codes before disconnecting the battery.
Attention! On models since 1993, the airbag system is disabled if the battery is disconnected for an extended period. If the airbag warning light comes on and stays on after reconnecting the battery, take it to a specialist workshop to restore the system to normal.
1. Remove the ground wire from the battery.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector and high voltage wire from the ignition coil.
3. Unscrew bolts and remove the ignition coil.
4. Using an ohmmeter, check the resistance between the positive and negative terminals and the positive and high voltage terminals of the ignition coil.
Replacement
1. Remove the ground wire from the battery.
2. If equipped, remove the heat shield from the ignition coil.
3. Remove the ignition coil mounting bolts.
4. Mark and disconnect the electrical wires from the contacts of the ignition coil.
5. Installation is made in sequence, return to removal.
