- Clamp the steering wheel in a vice. Do not tighten the vice too much to avoid denting the body.
- Mark the threads of the corresponding tie rod, loosen the lock nut and unscrew the tie rod joint. If both tie rod ends come loose, mark the left and right tie rods with paint or a tag.
- After loosening the fastening clamps, remove the steering collars.
- If new cuffs are installed, install them, making sure that they are the same. Place the wire rings into the grooves of the cuffs and tighten. The ends should be facing up, as shown in Figure 228.

- Screw in the steering linkage joints and tighten them by hand according to the marks. When installing new parts, adjust the size from the middle of the steering point» Extend to the underside of the bushing to approximately the original length. After this, tighten the locknuts. Set both tie rods to the same length.
When replacing the internal parts of the steering rod, you should perform the work described above, and then:
- With the steering control clamped in a vice, use a chisel to bend the lock on the gear rack. (Pic. 229).

- Hold the rack from the inside with a wrench and unscrew the steering rods. Mark the rods in accordance with the installation side.
- Well lubricate the ball pin of the new steering rod, insert it into the housing and screw the housings to the ends of the rack, tightening to a torque of 72 Nm. Align the locking washer by aligning the spout with the cutout in the body.
- As shown in Figure 229, hammer in the locking spout with a chisel, but from the other side.
- Place the cuff as described above and tighten it with your fingers according to the marks. If installing a new part, adjust the measurement from the center of the tie rod end to the front surface of the bushing to approximately the original length. After this, tighten the locknuts. Set both tie rods to the same length.
