Removal and installation
When removing the carburetor without removing the engine, make sure that no foreign objects get into the intake manifold opening. There is no need to remove the carburetor to open the float chamber.
- Remove the air filter. To do this, remove the air intake hose, disconnect the exhaust gas return hoses, unscrew the filter mounting bolts and unscrew the wing nut. Lift the air filter and immediately cover the inlet hole with a cloth.
- Disconnect all connectors connected to the carburetor.
- Unscrew the fuel hose from the carburetor.
- Disconnect exhaust gas return hoses (if any), having previously marked them.
- Disconnect the ignition distributor vacuum hose from the carburetor.
- Disconnect the throttle cable and, with an automatic transmission installed, also disconnect the throttle cable.
- Disconnect the hose from the vacuum diaphragm of the engine starter and from the throttle damper.
- Disconnect the idle air lock valve connector, unscrew the carburetor nuts and lift the carburetor.
- Place a cloth over the intake port or close the engine compartment hood to prevent foreign objects from entering the engine.
Installing the carburetor is done in the reverse order. After installation, check the idle speed.
5.1.2. Carburetor overhaul
To disassemble the carburetor, a special set of keys must be available (09860—11011). Lay out all the parts in the order of removal on a workbench covered with paper. After removal, wash the parts with clean fuel and, if possible, blow them with compressed air. When reassembling, replace all gaskets and O-rings. It is better to have a carburetor repair kit. Disassembly and reassembly of the carburetor is relatively simple and once removed, with the carburetor on the bench, it becomes clear how to disassemble it. More complicated adjustments are described below.
