To perform this operation, it is necessary to bleed the brake system with the pedal with outside help.
If it is necessary to bleed air from the entire system, air is bled individually from each wheel cylinder. The sequence of the procedure is as follows: wheel cylinder of the rear right wheel, rear left, brake caliper front right, front left.
If one of the wheel cylinders and caliper was repaired, then it is enough to release air from this cylinder or caliper.
Before performing the procedure, remove the reservoir cap and add brake fluid to the mark «max».
Attention: In the process of pumping, monitor the level of fluid in the tank. It is impossible to allow a significant decrease in the liquid level, otherwise air can enter the system through the tank. Always top up with new fluid!
Remove the dust boot 1 from the wheel cylinder bleed valve and put a ring wrench on it. Put a clean, transparent hose on the fitting. Lower the other end of the hose into a container half filled with brake fluid. On vehicles that have been in service for a long time, spray the fitting with a rust-dissolving agent and turn it carefully.
Attention: COROLLA Kombi cars (from 8/87 release) When bleeding the brakes, the rear wheels must be on the ground. In addition, a load of 100 kg must be in the luggage compartment. Thus, the brake force regulator is activated after the rear suspension is loaded.
The container with brake fluid must be at least 30 cm above the air outlet. The possibility of air entering the brake system through the thread of the union cannot be ruled out.
With assistance, depress the brake pedal several times to pressurize the system. This should be felt by increasing resistance to pedal movement.
After reaching the required pressure, fully press the pedal with your foot to the pedal.
Turn the fitting about half a turn with the ring spanner to open it. Collect escaping liquid in a container. Make sure that the end of the hose in the bottle is constantly below the liquid level.
As soon as the fluid pressure drops, immediately close the fitting.
Repeat the above procedure as many times as necessary to ensure that the liquid flowing out does not contain any more bubbles.
Finally, tighten the union with a force of 10 Nm while pressing the brake pedal.
Remove hose from fitting. Put on a duster.
In the same way, bleed the air from the other wheel cylinders.
After completion of the operation, close the cap on the expansion tank. If necessary, add fluid to the reservoir up to the mark «max».
