The rear wheel brakes are self-adjusting depending on the wear of the brake pads. The parking brake is adjusted if the brake lever or brake cables are replaced or if the brake does not hold despite the sufficient thickness of the friction linings.

Raise the rear of the vehicle.

Check the correct routing of the brake drive cables and the reliability of their fixation in the guides.

Release the brake.

Slowly move the brake to the upper position, counting the number of clicks. The lever stroke with a force of 200 N (20 kg) should be: for cars with drum brakes 4...7 clicks; for cars with disc brakes 5...8 clicks.

If the specified value of fixations is not achieved, then pepper adjust the gap in the brake shoes by adjusting the parking brake, as described earlier.

Rear wheel drum brake

Move the brake lever up until it stops, then release it.

Remove the brake drum.

Measure the inner diameter of the brake drum and the outer diameter of the brake shoes. Brake clearance (difference between outer and inner diameters) should be 0.6 mm.

If the clearance differs from the specified value, check the brake shoe adjustment as described in the section "Installing rear brake pads".

Install the brake drums in place.

Rear wheel disc brake

(only for vehicles with 116/121 hp engine.)

Move the brake lever up a little and loosen it again.

Release the lever.

Press the brake pedal several times to ensure that the brakes are self-adjusting.

Check on both calipers whether the brake locking lever touches the stop pin. If this is not the case, release the cable to the handbrake lever.

Adjustment

Remove the handbrake lever console.

Loosen the lock nut and adjusting nut to achieve the specified lever travel.

The official source is on the portal ToyotaMan.ru

After adjustment, tighten the lock nut to 5 Nm.

Install the brake lever console in place.
