Starter
Pic. 2.27. Starter
Instead of the pole windings used in a conventional starter, the planetary geared starter uses interpole magnets.
The interpole magnets are arranged so that the total magnetic flux increases and the stator length decreases.
Design
Pic. 2.28. Design feature of the starter
Instead of the pole windings used in a conventional starter, this type of starter uses two types of permanent magnets: main and interpole. These magnets are placed alternately inside the stator. The magnetic flux that occurs between the main and interpole magnets is added to the flux generated by the main magnets (pic. 2.28).
In addition to increasing the total value of the magnetic flux, this design allows you to reduce the overall length of the stator.
